One of the main reasons why a lot of people choose to enroll a college education online has to do with cost. A program offered by an online school is on average more affordable, but that doesn’t mean an online degree program won’t put a toll on your finances. Especially if you haven’t saved up in advanced.
College education online allows you to save big money in some areas. For example, you won’t have to spend cash on accommodation, but you’ll still have to pay your online school its due fees. So even if an online degree program is more affordable, a lot of online students find themselves in need of financial help.
Some students can turn to their families for financial support, but what if you are not among the lucky ones? Should you give up your dreams of getting a college education online? Far from it.
Instead, you should focus all your energy and attention towards getting a scholarship. Scholarships are free money grants which help you cover your tuition costs. And they are everywhere these days. You just have to devote some time to the whole process of finding the right scholarships.
While the majority of bursaries revolve around $1,000 to $5,000, they will help you cover at least in part the costs of your degree program.
Look for such scholarships online. A lot of them are awarded by institutions and organizations. For example, the Adelante Fund Scholarship Program has been created to help students of Hispanic descent who are residents of the state of Colorado.
You need a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for this award and also to be planning to enroll in one of the universities in Colorado.
Also note that this award is need-based, so applicants must submit proof of their income. Other documents are also required too. For example, you have to send in a proof of enrollment, two reference letters describing the student’s leadership potential and a recent resume. What’s more, responses to a student survey need to be submitted on a separate sheet of paper.
In return for your hard work, you could get the chance to win a $3,000 scholarship to be used towards the cost of your tuition.
On top of that, scholarship winners will possibly participate in a paid internship at the Adelante Leadership Institute.
While the deadline for this year’s scholarship has expired, we invite you to come back to the page in a few months for updated information on the upcoming funding program. The website states that scholarship season is annually between January and May. So try your luck next year.
This is just an example of a scholarship program you might want to apply to. But if you’re not Latino or have a minimum GPA of 3.0, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get funding.
Use your own set of characteristics to search and identify the scholarships that are right for you alone. Good luck!
